The title for this one comes from the Sesame Street song "One of these things." The inspiration, though, comes from the bathroom at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA where we grew up going to church. The downstairs bathroom near the Sunday School rooms had no kid-height urinals, so they had this bench.
So whenever a little boy would come in, down to the ankles went the pants and up to the armpits went the shirt. It is one of those things that is completely hilarious but you're not supposed to acknowledge because that would be rude. And face it, my brothers, we've all been there.

The Men's Bathroom Series
This series demonstrates a messy watercolor technique appropriate to the filth of the men's bathroom. Notice they feature poo, pee and blood colors.
The little blue children stand out in the color scheme, in similar manner as children represent the presence of innocence in the adult world. They do not yet know what is dirty and what to not touch. Children are also naive to the unspoken etiquette of the men's bathroom - don't make personal comments, wash your hands, don't make eye contact or intrude on another's privacy. So that is why they look like aliens. They often put their grownups in awkward situations - probably for their own good.
